Loom & Leaf Review

Let’s talk about something that’s super near and dear to my heart.

Sleep.

Yep, you read that right. Sleep. It’s honestly right up there with warm chocolate chip cookies and vanilla ice cream (which, by the way, may be the key to my heart).

When my husband and I had our daughter 2.5 years ago, and I was a brand new mom getting literally .02 hours of sleep every night, I kind of resembled the girl from the Exorcist.

I couldn’t function. I was rude. And, I was so delusional that I felt like my head was going to spin around or something.

Needless to say, if I don’t get a good night’s sleep, you don’t want to be anywhere within like a mile’s radius of me.

Thankfully, my daughter was a pretty great sleeper and started sleeping through the night at 7 weeks. Don’t hate me. It was literally nothing I did. I’m a firm believer that some babies sleep, and others don’t. And, while she was a great nighttime sleeper, naps were different, and she was super colicky, so she ended being a SUPER hard baby. But, that’s a story for another time.

Anyway, ever since she started sleeping through the night, I felt like I couldn’t really ever get a good night’s sleep. Even though there wasn’t any REASON not for me to be sleeping well, I just couldn’t.

It wasn’t until recently that I started evaluating my sleeping habits. I was exercising consistently, eating healthy, and managing my stress (sort of). But, then it dawned on me.

It had to be my mattress.

My husband and I were using a mattress we had for like a bajillion years with a super soft memory foam topper. In hindsight, it was probably WAY too soft and not enough support, I just didn’t realize it because I had been sleeping on it for so long.

And, while my sleep was okay, it just wasn’t what I needed it to be. And my sleep deprived state made me realize that.

So I started looking at other options. There were SO many options out there that I honestly felt super overwhelmed.

Tons of companies advertise “mattresses in a box”, which was intriguing, but then I started diving into the reviews and saw that some weren’t happy because of the fumes being omitted, weren’t eco-friendly, etc., and honestly if I’m going to be sleeping on this thing for (hopefully) 8 hours a night, I don’t want to be breathing in gross stuff.

Then, I stumbled upon the Loom & Leaf mattress by Saatva.

Everything about their mattress sounded too good to be true.

  • The mattress isn’t stuffed in a box (so no yucky off-gassing)
  • They’re eco-friendly and are covered with organic cotton
  • They use natural thistle pulp as a flame retardant, so no harmful chemicals!
  • They are made in the USA
  • They use a foam construction, so we would still get the memory foam feel with the extra support
  • They use a cooling gel…so no overheating, which is SUPER important to us since we live in sunny AZ

Oh, and best of all they’re super affordable and offer 120 day trial (and a 15 year warranty on the mattress, which is more than most places I found).

I knew this was the mattress for us. And, I was totally right.

My husband and I were in the process of redoing our bedroom, and were SUPER excited about our new sanctuary.

Since we were getting some new furniture, it obviously made sense to get a new mattress, too (I mean, that's how I justified it, anyway).

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of our new mattress, but knew it would take a little bit of time because they handcraft every single mattress (which was totally worth the wait in my mind).

Delivery day came and it was way easier than I expected. I got a call to schedule my delivery date, then the day before my delivery got another call with my window of time.

When the delivery team showed up, they not only delivered my mattress to our bedroom, but they took away our old mattress for free.

We couldn’t wait to try it out.

I kid you not, the first night’s sleep on this thing was the best sleep I had gotten in 2.5 years. I was totally blown away.

Not only was I getting better sleep, but I overall felt better. Prior to getting our new mattress I had been getting sore from time to time. I always assumed it was from working out, and never thought anything else of it.

But, since I’ve gotten our new mattress, I haven’t been sore ONE day. And, my workout routine hasn’t changed.

This mattress was literally life changing. It was still soft enough to have that “memory foam feel”, but firm enough to give me that extra support that I had been needing.

If you’ve been looking for a new mattress, I’d totally recommend this one. And, with their trial, you have nothing to lose. If you don’t like the mattress, they’ll come pick it up AND you’ll get your money back (you’ll just be responsible for a $99 transportation fee).

You can head here to check out the mattress.
